LONDON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Wow. I’ve been home from California for three years now. The light, the venues here in London are so varied and beautiful my eyes have been having the best time. I thought I’d miss the California light and the beach weddings. But no. In fact, there’s no place like London.
I’m Kate Bunny Hampson, a wedding photographer based in London and travelling worldwide, photographing weddings on 35mm and medium format film.
And I’m super stoked to be photographing in my beloved hometown.
I wrote this list of London venues I was intrigued by, before I left Los Angeles. What I didn’t expect was to be so blown away by the town halls. Woolwich is a Wes Anderson dream, Chelsea cannot look bad if it tried, Camberwell has the beautiful window light, Islington the plush red and that corridor!, and Hackney‘s green walls look incredible on Kodak Portra 800.

Battersea Power Station has always been my favourite building in London, since the Pink Floyd album came into my possession as a teenager. I was fortunate to see Paul Weller play there in 1997. There was a touch of anger in his performance. On a previous night, he was fined by the council as the concert was ‘too loud’. Weller therefore had no choice but to make sure they REALLY had something to complain about this time. Photo taken by me, 2008.
Hotel Cafe Royal is on this list because, how could it not?! In its 165-year history, the Cafe Royal has played host to almost every notable figure in London society. David Bowie threw his ‘goodbye to Ziggy Stardust’ party there. And before that, my own parents partied there. Safe to say, we have history. Plus it would look incredible on slide film with flash. I’ve managed to tick off Wiltons Music Hall (more please!), the Asylum Chapel (but private high-profile wedding so you can’t see, sorry), Kew Gardens, Fitzrovia Chapel, Town Hall Hotel and the Barbican. I’m still waiting for you, Brixton Academy!
